In de rubriek Ask it @Lien bekijken we de meer wetenschappelijke kant van cosmetica en beauty. Deze week bespreekt Lien voor ons wat nou juist 'dermatologisch gestest' betekent.

De winnende vraag van Suus.

“Wat ik me altijd afvraag wat is nou precies: "dermatologisch getest" ?? Kan ik er echt waarde aan hechten als dit op mijn dagcreme staat of is het een vrij te gebruiken term en kan iedereen dit zomaar beweren?”

Het antwoord:

Fabrikanten die een geweten hebben zullen door een dermatoloog (huidarts) een test laten uitvoeren in het ziekenhuis en met proefpersonen. Zij zullen criteria's vaststellen en kijken of het product of de grondstof daar aan voldoet. Vallen de resultaten tegen zullen zij maatregelen nemen.

Maar het vervelende is dat dat soort tests niet door een onafhankelijk instituut worden uitgevoerd maar altijd door iemand die betaalt wordt door de fabrikant zelf.

Verder is “Dermatologisch getest” een vrij te gebruiken term.
Er zijn geen richtlijnen voor onderzoek, hoe het moet worden gedaan, waar het moet worden gedaan, door wie, hoe lang en met hoeveel mensen. Er is ook geen controlerende instantie die nagaat of er uberhaupt getest is als het wel wordt beweert.

Er zijn ook geen richlijnen die bepalen wanneer iets dan wel of niet acceptabel is. Ook als er getest is, dan kan het nog zo zijn dat ondanks negatieve resultaten het wel gewoon op de markt wordt gebracht. En dat er ook nog op staat dat het “Dermatologisch getest” is. De term geeft dus ook al geen garantie voor positieve testresultaten.

Een fabrikant kan al een testje doen onder 5 vrouwen, en dan op zijn verpakkingen laten zetten “Dermatologisch getest”.
Als je heel goed oplet, dan zie je soms in reclames voor cremes en dergelijke onderin beeld op TV, in een flits een paar kleine lettertjes verschijnen. Daar staat dan vaak, “getest onder 13 vrouwen gedurende 14 dagen.” Dat zijn dan bijvoorbeeld de tests die ze uitgevoerd hebben.

het is in nederland inderdaad verboden om cosmetica op dieren te testen, maar medicijnen enalles is niet verboden, en zeg nou zelf, hoeveel nederlandse/belgische make-up bedrijven zijn er nou helemaal? driekwart komt uit amerika en daar is het niet verboden. Sommige merken (goed voorbeeld daarvan is Yves Rocher) beweren inderdaad dat ze niet op dieren testen maar doen dit wel, hier zijn verder geen regels over omdat ze het eindresultaat inderdaag ook niet op dieren testen, de ingrediënten worden juist vaak op dieren getest, en als zij zeggen dat hun make-up niet op dieren testen hebben ze eigenlijk geleik, want de make-up zelf als die klaar is wordt niet meer getest. Maar er is wel degelijk een makkelijke manier om erachter te komen of make-up op dieren getest wordt, door de lijst van de peta, zij controleren zelf of de make-up én de ingrediënten op dieren getest worden dus die is stukken betrouwbaarder, en er staan enorm veel merken in. Pfff, ik vind toch dat europa hier richtlijnen voor zou moeten uitvaardigen. Behoort toch tot consumentenbescherming? Er zijn overal strenge regels voor en hier niet? Ik denk wel dat de meeste mensen (ikzelf tot nu toe ook) echt wel waarde hechten aan 'dermatoligisch getest'. Onlangs kocht ik een andere oogdemaquillant omdat degene die ik normaal koop uitverkocht was. Hij was ook dermatologisch getest en geschikt voor gevoelige ogen maar ik had er echt irritatie van!
Leuk dat je dit even voor ons uitgezocht hebt.

Ik heb eigenlijk een vraag voor Lien. Nu weet ik niet of ik mijn vraag hier kan neerzetten, maar ik waag het erop Ik heb echt al een hele tijd (jaren) last van 'ribbels' op mijn nagels.
